The Heart of Recovery: Mechanical Sorting Plants

We sort incoming municipal waste with bag openers, screens, ballistic and optical lines — sending recyclables, organics and RDF/SRF to dedicated streams.

Before landfill or energy recovery, mixed waste should pass a sorting line that turns the load into usable streams. We design, build and commission mechanical sorting plants matched to local waste composition and Zero Waste targets.

  • Reception and bag opening: Pit, metered feed and bag openers that spare recyclables.
  • Size and ballistic separation: Trommel screens and ballistic separators splitting fines/organics from 2D film and 3D bulky items.
  • Metals and optical sorting: Magnetic drums, eddy current and NIR lines for ferrous, aluminium and polymer grades.
  • Output streams: Baled paper, plastics, metals and glass; organics to biogas or compost; RDF/SRF for cement and energy plants; residuals to sanitary landfill.
