Plant units

  • Weighbridge unit — Entry control point where incoming and outgoing vehicles are weighed and waste volumes recorded.
  • Wheel-wash unit — Washes vehicle wheels leaving the site to limit road and environmental soiling.
  • Administration building — Administrative hub for plant management, staff and visitor operations.
  • Clean-water tank — Stores clean water for operations, fire-fighting and washing.
  • Machine maintenance workshop — Workshop for scheduled maintenance and repair of plant and machinery.
  • Vehicle / wheel-wash unit — Washes site vehicles and wheels as part of daily plant hygiene.
  • Mechanical sorting plant — Mechanically separates packaging and recoverable materials.
  • RDF plant (refuse-derived fuel for incineration and cement plants) — Produces refuse-derived fuel suitable for incinerators and cement kilns.
  • Compost plant (household and organic waste) — Turns household and organic waste into high-value agricultural compost.
  • Biomethanisation plant (household and organic waste) — Anaerobic digestion of organics into biogas and fertiliser.
  • Digester (reactor for animal and plant waste) — Reactor fermentation of animal and plant waste to produce gas.
  • Medical-waste sterilisation plant — Sterilises medical waste for safe onward disposal.
  • Sanitary landfill cells — Lined cells where non-recoverable waste is stored safely.
  • Leachate holding pond — Holds leachate collected from the landfill cells before treatment.
  • Leachate treatment plant — Treats leachate before controlled discharge to the environment.
  • Power generation plant — Cogeneration unit converting collected gas into electricity.
  • Gas collection system — Wells and piping that collect methane from cells and reactors.
  • Gas storage system (balloon) — Gas balloon providing buffer storage of produced gas.
